Makin' my office a little more artsy fartsy:)

Hey Y'all!

It's that time again!!! Time for the monthly Silhouette Challenge!!
This month was a peice of cake for me, as it was themed around home decorations. WELL, my soon-to-be-hubby-maybe-one-day gave up half of his garage! THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS, half of his garage!!! OH MYLANTA!

I don't know about you, but I don't know of any men that would give up their lair, their man cave, their piece of the house that they can go drink, fart, talk about all the crud they somehow find interesting, their throne (besides the porcelin goddess).

BUT MY MAN DID!!!!!

So it all started because I wanted a quiet place for my homework (i'm in college) and also he wanted all my crud out of the kitchen. HA!

I found this desk for free on craigslist. My son K and I went and picked it up, well the lady failed to tell us it weighed about a bajillion pounds! So K dropped his side and broke the legs off of it :( REPAIR TIME!!!!!!

Anywho long story short, my STBHMOD came home and built my new beauty legs from pallets! Oh and custom made it tall enough that one of my carts can fit under it :) Gosh darn I love that man!

Well what I am making a little more artsy fartsy are some AMAZING cabinets that I found for free on the side of the road!!!!!! I LOVE BIG JUNK DAY!!!

here are the plain Jane things.
As you can see I have my tape all stored on the top shelf there, and then one of my paper trimmers (the less hurtful guillotine one.... oh yeah almost chopped my finger off so it is currently grounded) and of course some paper packs!!! Every girl has to have a few hundred of those!

Any who! I took some 631 Vinyl that I just purchased from Pick Your Plum (that site will me the death of me! Not only to they send you a laffy taffy with your order, but they also offer amazing quality products for cheap!!!!)

Got my trusty side kicks in the biz...... Mr. Fat Fat, Mr. Boo, and also the 5th love of my life, my Silhouette~

They like to make sure everything runs smoothly!

Basically what I did was took a quote that I felt was fitting and made into a cut file in studio. Then cut it! Easy Peasy!

This is what I came up with.....

More next week on Office Artsy Fartsy Part 2!!!

Now go check out these other blogs for some more Home decorating ideas/tips!!!

Love y'all!

I'm BBAAAACCCKKKK!!!

Hey y'all!!!!

Ok so I know I have been MIA for a LLOOOONNNNGGGG time, but life got the best of me.

A) I was dealing with family issues upon my grandfathers passing
B) I went on VACATION!!!! (that was a much needed break!)
C) My baby started school :(
D) My littlest has been sick.

SSSOOOOO I think I will just tell you guys all about what has been going on for the past couple of months!!!

So family DRAMA. It's a shame when your a loved one passes away and all others want to do is be mad at him AFTER he is gone. All I have to say about any situation, make sure your will is in order and you have all the proper documents. One great article on the 25 documents you should have can be found >>>>>Here<<<<<
I think this should be on everyone's mind, just like 401k, mortgage payoff, funds for your children, and your funeral paid for, including the plot or creamation.

Now the fun part!!!!!

VACATION
We went to my home town of .......
Can anyone guess????
I'll give you a hint... it's really easy!
BOOMER SOONER
SOONER SCHOONER....
Any guesses????
No......
OK.....
OKLAHOMA people!!!!! Geeze!!!

No, but really, we went to Lake Eufaula.
Did you know that it is the largest man made lake in Oklahoma with over 600 miles of shore line??? I mean HOLY COW!!!! Thats a big MAN MADE LAKE!

Any who, the soon-to-be-hubby-maybe-one-day learned how to water ski! I am so proud of him! now me on the other hand, I didn't dare try because I used to try to knee board, and lets just say I look like a dolphin that does NOT know how to swim. Yeah it's THAT bad!

And I got to spend the day with my bestie forever!!!!! We have been friends since I slammed the door in her face. Well maybe not that PARTICULAR day but soon after. (funny story actually)

I seriously love this strong, loving, independent woman right here..

She really has to be my other half in woman form. If I was a lesbian, this woman would be my wife.... We have been through so many ups and downs it's not even funny!!!! I love you TT and I will see you again soon!!!

Off to my babies!
My 5 year old boo bear started Kindergarten!!!! I cried like a little baby.
The day started off with the bus driving right on by, so we had to take him to school. No big deal, I wanted too anyway but he wanted to be a big boy :(
Then it comes time for the bus to drop him off.... well the bus didn't drop him off.... it just drove right on by. So I call the school and see if I need to pick him up at the school or what, and guess what?!?! She told me that she didn't know if my child was on the bus or not. OH EM GEE!!!! You want to talk about someone who showed their ugly side!!! OH this momma was MMMMMAAAAAAADDDDDD! I finally got him home at 4:30 (he is supposed to be home at 3:30) and needless to say, my 5 year old showed the bus driver how to get home. Yes ladies and gents, my kid knows how to get home by landmarks. He can't tell you his address or his phone number, but he can tell you where he lives. Proud momma moment when I heard that!

My little fat-fat popped a tooth out!! On top of that, he had thrush for about a week or so. That was a nightmare!!!!
~What is thrush? It is a yeast infection in your mouth that goes throughout your digestive system. Anyone can get it when your enzymes that normally break down yeast from daily consumption, just doesn't break it down any more.
So he had thrush, and almost always, you get a diaper rash. Well we got medicine for his thrush and his diaper rash and he started healing. His mouth was all clear and his diaper rash was getting worse. Why??? It ended up being that he developed an allergy to the dyes in his diaper when he urinated. So now we have all white diapers and he is on the mend......
But now my little snaggle tooth is popping another tooth.
He can not sing "all I want for christmas is my two front teeth". Although they are on the bottom, so I guess technically he can. OOOOHHHHH He is my snaggly rabbit!!!! haha. I just cracked my self up!!!!

Love y'all!!!!

Lets talk about Red White and Blue!

Hey ya'll!

Well this blog post kinda fell all into one with a few different things.
1st- My momma and pops are feeling down missing my little brother (he is in the Army)
2nd- This theme for my Silhouette Challange is Patriotic:)
3rd- My granpap, who was an outstanding member of society and a previous service member, passed away         friday the 6th.

Also don't forget to show love to all the Silhouetters at the end of the post!

I decided to make use of my pallets I have laying around :)

I tore apart the pallets as gently as I could so I had some viable pieces, then re-assembled it like this

I did some splishing and splashing with some paint and made it all pretty.

I decided to leave the original wood as the white because I cut white vinyl for the stars and didn't want to take away from that. Plus rustic is my momma's thing. She LOVES anything old lookin'.
I mean she lives in a 1700's house with a bit of a modern twist, like heat and a working shower and toilet.
HAHA Love you momma!

Of course I tried to do a paint stencil without sealing the dang thing first and well that didn't work out too well!

They look like star blobs. Half star half  blobs haha!

anywho
I left the blurbs because I thought it gave it character!

TA-DA! Here is my final project:)

Now go check out all the awesome patriotic inspiration and get to crafting!!!!

Love all you ladies that give support and inspiration everyday!

Wreck it wednesday! (starting on Friday)

Hey ya'll!
I'm noticing a trend going on that has someone doing artsy stuff every week. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE artsy stuff but I like to be different:)
Now that I am starting school again Monday I will have a busy work week and I figured I need a break!

Welcome to Wreck It Wednesday!!!!!!

I got inspired by a blogger bud named Lauren. She has an amazing blog called The Thinking Closet. Yup you should go check her out!!! I know I would (and do)!

So what is Wreck it Wednesday???? I got this new gem the other day called "Wreck This Journal" by Keri Smith.

It will help with my overwhelming need to be perfect ALL THE TIME!!! It gets a bit annoying!!
Many times when you do art, there are supposed to be mess ups, screw ups, and IT'S OKAY!!!
Not in my book, I like to have everything turn out the way I planned. If it doesn't (which is 80% of the time) I feel overwhelmed, anxious and just all around mad. Welp, this book is supposed to help with all of that.... it is supposed to help you say "hey, messy is okay and you don't need to have EVERYTHING in it's place ALL THE TIME"

So I decided to give it a shot!!!

~~~~Here's the skinny~~~~
Every Wednesday I will post a new page that I have done:) The very first instruction in the journal is to carry it everywhere with you. So I can guarantee you that I did not do the post that day. It will probably have been done a very long time ago... but that is the excitement right??? That's how series are started... hehe!!
Here's the pic of the first page!!!
I seriously hope ya'll enjoy this journey with me! I know I will!!
With Love,
T
Silhouette Challange! May flowers mixed media art!
Hey ya"ll!!
          Man OH man do I have some goodies for ya'll!!!! First off let me say that I am in a group of some wonderful Facebook buddies that challenge us to use our SILHOUETTE machine to come up with some wonderful ideas. Which you can check out at the end of this post! YYYAAAYYYY!!!! Please go check them out!!!
Ok so... lets get the ball rolling with the May Challenge...... FLOWERS!!!!
I had a particularly hard time with this because I really do not like flowers. I KNOW, I KNOW weird right?!?!?!!? However, I had so much fun with this!!!! I kind of wrapped the mother's day present all in a pretty bow with this one :) I made a mixed media art canvas with flowers made from my Silhouette Portrait!
Lets go step by step shall we?!?
See this mundane thing right here.... yep an empty canvas.... YUCK!! Don't ya just hate that... well lets spruce it up:)
I took some cool tissue paper that I found at Michael's and started with a background.
I love working with tissue because you can texture it or make sure to get all the wrinkles and bubbles out for a smoother look.
Lets lay it out before pasting it down shall we?
I use a matte gel to paste it down. It works as a phenomenal glue and sealer!
Let's get to gluing!
After that is all said in done I took a simple cell phone photo and made it all antique lookin' in Picmonkey. Then printed it. I didn't like the clean crisp edges so I got to ripping and tearing... then gluing down with that awesome matte gel again!
This is what I came up with:)
I love mustaches' because they are too darn cute, but they are too clean and crisp lookin'
So I took this nifty stuff called distress ink by Tim Holtz... GREAT STUFF BY THE WAY!!!
I also took a stencil and traced it by rubbing it around.
Now next came the paper flowers that I made with my Silhouette... ya know the one in the background ;)
I love that machine! I think it is my best friend!!
I pretty much just placed them where ever I thought they looked nice.
I took some clear stamps and my blue stazon and started stampin on some scrap white paper.. The saying is "Gammies Minions" which is a saying my 4 year old came up with after watching Despicible Me 2. He calls his brother his little minion because he is convinced that he will be his little worker one day.... OH CHILD, Do you not know you are my minion??? Mwahahaha.... no but really, wipe off the stove! JUUUSSSTTTT KKKIIIDDD DDDIIING!!
I also stamped their names.. Zane Lee and Abel Korbyn-Schuyler. Just in case she decides to forget one day:) I LOVE YOU MOMMA!!
This is the end result!!! I may have to go back and add some more flowers or lace.... because what girl doesn't love lace right????
 I think she will love it ... at least I hope so:)
It is simple yet fun.
So.... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you Momma's, God-Momma's, Auntie's, and Daddie's that are acting like Momma's too!
Love each and every one of you!!!
Mixed media journal present.
Hey ya'll!!! Did ya miss me?!?!?
I know I have!!! How can I miss myself you ask?? Well our house has been plagued with the stomach virus for quite sometime. In the past month I have done 3 Emergency visits, 6 doctor appointments, and many many many dirty diapers and undies. A 5 year old that don't have control of his bladder is one horrible mess... on top of a 4 month old baby... yup a whole lot of fun!
Now back to the topic T!!!
I have created a mixed media journal for my Momma. She is very much into butterflies and I LOVED making this for her!!
First I purchased a chipboard journal made by recollections at Michaels then decorated the front and back.
I painted the front and back white, did a bit of spritzing and spraying.
Some stencils and molding paste.
Then I went to town with rhinestones, flowers, a frame, some burlap and an charm! I apologize for not having a how-to but I am in the process of posting a You-tube, I am still pretty new at this shenanigans so thank you for all your patience!!!
I did make the butterfly stencils with my Silhouette Portrait and some chipboard. I think I am in love!!!
Diy for household items!
Hey ya'll!
I'm laying here in bed wide awake..... The insomnia bandit has struck again!!! So why not do something productive?? That's right, I am writing to all my lovies! My wonderful readers who like to hear me babble... raw and uncut.
As I am laying here, I start to think "ok, what should I write about??" and then it hit me. Everyone loves to save money and some like it for the "do it yourself" kick.
So let me tell you my story.
Yesterday I went to Walmart looking for citric acid. They say they sell it, online even says stores have it. I looked in EVERY section for it and couldn't find it.
I go up to one of the employees and ask "do you know where I can find the citric acid? "  He gives me this ungodly stare and turns pale white. He says "Miss that's sone pretty dangerous stuff, might I ask what your using it for???" I politely reply, with a smile on my face "I am using it to make my own dishwasher detergent." He says he has no clue so on to the next employee in a different section!
I go back to the food section and ask another person, and the conversation was a little different.
Me- "Maam do you know where I can find the citric acid?"
Employee- "Your not going to find that here. It's toxic to everyone's health and and can be used easily to kill people."
I now his this baffled look on my face and the smart*** that I am.... I have the gears turning in my head. I go get 3 items. Crystal light packages, jello, and fruit cups. I take them to the same lady and ask her to read the first ingredient on all those items.... well guess what?!?!? I'll be darned, if it isn't that deathly thing called CITRIC ACID!!!! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE NOW!!!!! OOOOOHHHHHH MMMMMYYYYYY LLLLAAAANNNNDDDDSSSSS!!!!
The look on her face was priceless. Bless her little heart:)
I go and ask around again, and to my surprise on gentle men told me it's the same thing as fruit pectin. So I buy it, it's only $1.29. For those of you that don't know, fruit pectin is the stuff you buy to can items. It's the jelly stuff!
I go home, research it, and low and behold the gentleman was correct!!!
4 simple items.
Fruit pectin
Salt
Washing soda
Borax.
Yup, my dishes are clean for under 10 bucks. Now you won't use all the ingredients for a while and you'll have to purchase more fruit pectin. But the way I figured it, 10 bucks for all the stuff and 2 batches makes about  288 loads because you only need 1 teaspoon. I figure it's around $.03 for one load.
Amazing right???!!!
If ya want the full recipe just let me know!
Either contact me here or email me!
Theoutlandishmomma@gmail.com
Enjoy guys!
With love,
~T
OH it's no big deal.... OK IT IS!!!!!! THE LIEBSTER AWARD NOMINATION!!!! EEEKKKK!!!
Heyyyyyyy Ya'llllll!!!
So I just found out that I was nominated for the Liebster Award!!!! OH EM GEE!!!!
~Well what is it?!?!?! It's an award for smaller blogs that was recognized by a fellow blogger! YAYY!! I made the list!!! (doing a happy jig)
I would love to thank Miss Becky and Miss Glenna from My Paper Craze! Ya'll ladies are AMAZINGGG!!! I also want to thank them for the recognition!!!! Check out their awesome blog here>>>>>> My Paper Craze <<<<<<< yup amazing RIGHT?!?!?!
This is SUCH an honor!!! So here are the rules....
ok let's get this shindig started:)
Questions:
Here are my answers for the questions by Becky and Glenna :)
1. Why did you decide to start a blog?
My wonderful boyfriend. He says that I have been through so much and I have so many ideas that I should write it down, oh and my therapist... well she agrees:) So thank you to Chris and Hayley! They are my rocks
2. Is blogging your obsession or your hobby?
Right now it is a hobby. I'm happy to admit that it is slowly becoming an obsession.
3. What is your greatest source of inspiration for your blog?
My greatest source?? Well I would have to say my brain, haha! I look at all the wonderful blogs and try to do something different. We all aspire to be different right?
4. Do you plan your posts in advance or are you a spur-of-the-moment blogger?
I would have to say that I am definitly a spur-of-the-moment blogger. Something pops in my head and I'm like "oh that would be a good post" let's do this!! all while fist pumping {not really though, I do not fist pump}
5. If you could choose a blog-idol, who would it be?
I have SO MANY!!! I would have to say the first blog that I really followed and has inspired me is Lauren Lanker from the thinking closet.
6. What do you consider your biggest success so far as a blogger?
My biggest success would have to be writing my first post, doing my first YouTube video and also getting on the computer to do posts! I just feel that life has me wrapped up at times and it really is a commitment to get on the computer.
7. What has been your biggest obstacle?
My almost 4 month old son. He always needs attention {but I do not mind at all}. I love all his little kisses and hugs. I would also say my 4 year old. We are prepping him for school so that has been an obstacle, but it's awesome to see his brain go to work!
8. Is there anything you would change about your journey into blogging?
No way! I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. So how it happened, it was for a reason:)
9. Do you have any insight to share with those contemplating starting a blog?
Just do it!!! JUST JUMP INTO IT AND DON'T LOOK BACK!!!
10. What is your favorite activity (or non-activity) to relax?
Crafting, dancing with my kiddos, listening to music, or a piping hot bath...... aaahhhh I can feel the steam now!
11. What do you envision for your blog in 10 years?
It will be bigger, better and I still learn. If you are not learning then you are not using your brain to the fullest extent!
How do you store your stamps??
Hey ya'll!!!
Recently I have been researching ways to store my cling stamps because OH MY GOSH do they take up SO MUCH SPACE! I also don't have a nifty craft room because well, we had to make a nursery. Seems newborns need their own room right??
~anywho~
I have found these tote lookin thingys that seem nice but what happens if you have more than say, 24 stamps?? Also let's put aside that I did not want to spend 13+ and shipping for something that might store all my stamps. So the creativity juices started flowing and this is what I came up with:) hope ya'll enjoy!!!
First I had a 3" binder that I got at walmart for about 3 bucks in the clearance section.
Who's doesn't love cheap right?!?!?
Then I got these beautiful write on transparencies on ebay for 5 bucks and free shipping:) waaahhhhooooo!!!!
These zipable folders are from staples for 4 dollars! They sure are nifty and they do the trick!  Now to put it all together!!
First I rounded the corners on the transparencies so they wouldn't snag or cut the folders.
Put your stamps on the transparency and they will end up sticking to the folder so I put the separation film that come with the transparency pack as a protective cover for the back of the stamps. Then pop those bad mamma jammas in! Viola! You have a neat, organized, cheap way to store those awesome stamps!!!
Hope ya'll enjoy!!
